Why don't we run out of tears?

12/13/2023

This was last December pictured below. We lost 5 horses. This December we have lost 3 . Annie, Joker and Remi.

Why don't we run out of tears? Why do we continue knowing there will be more heartache. ahead? Why? Because we have a mission and can't turn our backs on any animal suffering even if we also suffer, we go on. Thank you for your support.

Dec 2022
SaveTheHorses has lost 5 horses in 15 days. It takes a toll on your heart. I know the reason I am here on Earth is to risk my heart but when it happens like this, it seems unbearable.

First Bashert, aka Punkin Pie, was with us almost a year. She came from a kill pen. She was loved by everyone who met her and especially by her adopter, Dani. Next was Samson who came from a local family who couldn't keep him safe. Loved by, Kay, she adopted him over a year ago. Next Danny came from the Amish, old and used up. We had him in quarantine. The stress of auctions and much change made him very sick. Then Cypress Slew, loved and adopted 19 years ago by Pam crossed the over. Last was Diesel, loved and adopted by Heather 13 years ago joined the others at the Rainbow Bridge. Each of these horses were very special. They came into our lives for a reason. Some stayed long, some much shorter of a time but all were treasured.

Now for we humans who are dealing with the loss. Trying to run past grief isn't working. We need to slow down and sit with each loss and grieve each horse. It just came so quickly, one after the other, we want to run from the pain. Grief is personal. It is the last thing we can give. There is a sacredness to the grief and tears. My heart hurts for all the humans involved. There are many people who knew these horses from being at the rescue and they also are feeling the sadness. The reality is we will grieve forever because love never ends.

RIP Bashert, Samson, Danny, Slew and Diesel.
